Sheldon H. Preskorn, MD

In addition to serving as President & CEO of the Clinical Research Institute, Dr. Preskorn is also Professor for the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Kansas School of Medicine - Wichita.
Dr. Preskorn has conducted preclinical pharmacology studies for over 10 years and has served as the principal investigator for over 250 formal clinical trials covering all phases of human studies for nearly 30 years including first in man studies, single dose and multiple dose ascending trials, first in mildly symptomatic volunteers studies in a variety of different special populations, pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic studies with various endpoints for drug effect, drug-drug interaction studies, formulation studies, phase II and phase III studies in various therapeutic areas. These include drug development studies of all of the marketed antidepressants in the United States during the last 25 years. He has also been involved in the registration process for seven of these drugs.
A fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Psychopathological Association, Dr. Preskorn has served on the Food and Drug Administration psychopharmacology advisory committee, Veterans Administration, National Institutes of Health, and National Science Foundation. He has also served as a consultant to the regulatory equivalent for the FDA for the European Union, Australia, Great Britain, Japan, and Sweden.
Dr. Preskorn has assisted and represented many pharmaceutical companies in presenting to both the FDA psychopharmacology advisory committee and the FDA Over-the-Counter advisory committee. He has represented companies at FDA labeling conferences and consulted with various companies and their legal firms on product liability cases, patent infringement cases. He has also consulted on US and international marketing and educational projects.
An international lecturer and author of over 350 scientific and professional articles, Dr. Preskorn has received continuous grant funding since 1978, allowing him to conduct research primarily in the areas of psychopharmacology, affective and anxiety disorders, and neuroscience.
His basic pharmacological and neuroscience research has included studies in neurochemistry, neurophysiology, histochemistry, electron microscopy, cerebral blood flow and metabolism, positron emission tomography and radioligand binding. His clinical research has included pharmacokinetics and drug development through all clinical phases.

Mr. Baker has over 20 years experience specializing in the treatment of psychiatric and neurological disorders, with the last 18 years dedicated exclusively to drug development research. Over that span, he has collaborated with American and European pharmaceutical corporations to conduct clinical drug trials in subjects with psychiatric illnesses including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, Alzheimer’s, and psychotic disorders.
As Vice President of Clinical Operations, Mr. Baker supervises all clinical research staff. In addition, he oversees all clinical research activities including: protocol selection, study recruitment, study performance, regulatory affairs, and quality assurance.
Mark Taylor, BS

Mr. Taylor has more than 10 years experience in clinical trials research management. He has held progressively more responsible roles managing the business aspects of clinical research. Mr. Taylor is currently the Vice President of Business Operations for CRI. In this role he is responsible for the overall business operations, including the finance and accounting functions, human resources, and administrative operations. Mr. Taylor also serves as CRI’s contact with sponsors relating to budget, contract, and payment issues.
Mr. Taylor received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Quality Management from Southwestern College, Winfield, Kansas, in 1999. Prior to entering the clinical research field; he spent seven years in the healthcare industry.
Craig Plank, BGS

Mr. Plank has over 20 years experience in business strategy and strategic marketing. He brings wide-ranging expertise in both business-to-business and business-to-consumer marketing and communications. As Business Development Director, Mr. Plank serves in a dual capacity overseeing subject recruitment programs for our sponsors’ research projects. Additionally, he is responsible for marketing and communications initiatives directed toward drug developers and physician researchers.
Mr. Plank is a 1980 graduate of Wichita State University with a Bachelor’s degree in general studies. Prior to joining CRI, he provided marketing and communications consulting and creative services. Plank also has entrepreneurial experience and was instrumental in two different start-up enterprises.
